MagWerk

- you are met with a choice of 4 magazines to choose from covering games, art and design, art and fashion, and music and lifestyle.

- they are an online magazine where you read along like a normal magazine...with a few extras

- articles are a combination of moving artwork, pieces of artistic film, interviews, alternative sports coverage, music reviews and topics of interest.

- in 'encore', the magazine that covers art and design, the background can be changed from 'park' to 'the beach', 'the office' or 'frosty lake'

- the space for advertising potential offers new ways in companies to create moving interactive adverts without the irritating 'pop up' label

- there is space for people to post their opinions about the issue or the magazine in general

- my favourite features this week were the in depth look at graffiti across europe and retro music.

- the best thing about this magazine is its selection of topics and the frequency in which it changes and updates itself. For anyone interested in graphics or just slight alternative things to read beyond creative review and grafix...I would deffo recommend you check this out...even if it is while you are waiting for photos to load on facebook.

keep left magazine

- kleft.com is the website that showcases its limited production graphics and design magazine.

- I like the idea of the website, as it acts as a guide to the magazine before you buy it.

- It is clean, easy to navigate and acts as a good selling tool for the magazine.

- There are only 1000 copies produced, each being hand numbered.

'keep left magazine seeks to ferret out what inspires some of the images these people produce. It's not about pontificating about 'style-derivations' or asking twenty questions about boring things most people don't care about.

It's about wanting to know about what drives them to do what they do. Because they are all a part of creating the human image bank. The goal for everyone within these pages is to create something meaningful to them, and in turn, they hope their work will mean something to you.'

-the big downside is that it would end up being very expensive to buy, as the fee for exchanging money and postage is very costly.

-the website is definately worth a look though!

Brooklyn Dock, NYC

St John's Church

- One of the oldest churches in Latvia, St John's Church is currently under renovation. The sad thing about this is that the interior is planned to be ultra modern, therefore taking away from the traditional aspect of Architectural design that is currently shown within the walls of the church located in the old town of Riga. I wasn't allowed to take any photos inside of this church, but I really think it will be a shame to replace the religious paintings and intricate woodwork with modern wooden beams and cream walls... I admire a lot of modern design, but I think some things should just be left as they are...it would be such a shame to see the soul and character replaced by something beige.
